Pit is located on land <br />owned by the State of Colorado in NEy Section 10, TSS, R62W. Approximately 30 <br />surface acres are involved in the mining project. <br />SUGGESTED SOLUTION(S) Refer to the attached copy of soils map for the area. Three <br />soil types are found in the area around the pit. Also attached are descriptions <br />,for these soils. For further characteristics and descriptions of soiJ.s in the <br />immediate clay nit location refer to the report prepared by ''t'horn Ecolocical Co." <br />refer to this report £or information on native vegetation in area. Since <br />native vegetation and top soil is stripped during mining activity, thus exuosing <br />a barren clay surfaces reclamation procedures will be extremely difficult. Clay <br />in general is composed of very fine particles and has a massive structure that is <br />I <br />I <br />almost, impervious to air and water. It may also be low in nitrogen Clay also <br />lacks the organisms and the organic matter that is indicative of fertile, productive <br />soils caaable of supporting vegetation. <br />' Reclamation efforts should therefore include but not limited to the following <br /> <br />* ChecA app rop.io le category <br />
