The fence on the
southerly boundary was selected as a physical pit limit boundary. CDOT does not intend
to disturb the fence nor excavate a highwall close enough to compromise its stability.
CDOT will not excavate a highwall within 40 feet of the pit limits.
2. CDOT intends to use this pit intermittently as CDOT and USFS surfacing contracts
require. The schedule for intermittent use depends upon future need and funding and is
not available. CDOT is aware of the requirement to report the status and condition of the
pit on a yearly basis to the Division of Minerals and Geology. It is our intent to store only
crushed aggregates and topsoil within the pit during periods of temporary cessation. The
entire disturbed area including topsoil piles (but excluding aggregate stockpiles) will be
temporarily seeded if not anticipated to be used during the following construction season.
Erosion control berms will be installed every fall. The condition of the pit in regard to
erosion and surface runoff will be monitored and reported to the Colorado Department of
Health as required by our Stormwater Management Plan twice each year.
EXAiBIT D - A revised Exhibit D with a mining plan map is attached.
According to the map provided with the permit the existing highwalls are approximately
80 fee[ from the new pit limit. CDOT intends to monument the pit limits by installing
metal fence posts on each corner and on each line at no more than 200 feet intervals.
CDOT will not excavate highwalls within 40 feet of the defined pit limits. If necessary the
40 foot limit will be marked.
