The upper 1.5' to 2.0' is tan, < o
sandy, loose soil. Below the soil cover is about 4' to 5' of clay, dark to I m .,
light brown, plastic, non-calcareous containing scattered blocks of sandstone. ~ ~
These sandstone blocks are white to tan with limonitic stains on some surfaces o 9
and are composed of fine grained quartz sand with some carbonate matrix or °> A
grains of carbonate. The blocks are sub-angular to sub-rounded, up to 6" in °
maximum dimension and are soft but not friable. o
The lower 5.0' to 5.5' exposed in the trench is a light to dark brown o ,o
clayey matrix in which the proportion of sandstone blocks increases in number
and size with depth. The sandstones are white and calcareous when fresh, and '-
when weathered are tan and less calcareous. Scattered fragments of sandstone
are limonitic and generally non-calcareous.
