A. Cleaning the existing well, lowering the pump or possibly
drilling the well deeper.
B. Drilling a new well to a different aquifer.
C. Supplying water from an alternate source.
D. Designing a recharge operation to replenish the aquifer
in the immediate area of the well.
Any of the described options will be used depending on the
situation and the costs involved and their effectiveness.
NPDES Permit
The operator has applied for an NPDES permit under the rules and
regulations of the Water Quality Control Division of the Colorado
Department of Health. The permit will come under the statewide
permit that is administered by the Health Department. A copy of
this permit will be submitted to the MLRD when it is received and
prior to discharging.
404 Dredge and Fill Permit
The present mining plan does not intend to place any fill in
wetlands and as such will not require a 404 permit. A wetlands
delineation was done for the project and has been approved by the
Corps of Engineers. Since no wetlands will be filled during mining
or reclamation, no Section 404 permit is required.
Stormwater Discharge Permit
The operation will be classified as an industrial site and as such
requires a stormwater discharge permit. Since the issuance of
these permits is still unknown, the operator will commit to
applying for a permit when it is clarified what is required for the
application and the type of permit whether individual or general is
allowed.
G-7
