P-4. .
formed by the elevated portions of the haul road (about 12")
immediately adjacent to the natural Swale on the surrounding
land to the south. In view of the low rainfall and porosity
of the gravel surface of the mined area, surface run-off is
very unlikely even in periods of brief but intense summer
rainstorms. All mining will halt above the water table.
Exhibit H - Wildlife Information
Please see the Wildlife Evaluation dated January S, 198(1 and
incorporated as Exhibit H-1.
Exhibit I - Soils Information
Three soils mapping units have been identified on the site
by the USDA-Soil Conservation Service as reported in the
Soil Survey Of Otero County. Colorado issued March 1972.
The units are: the Cascajo Soils; The Harvey-Stoneham Loams;
and the Otero Sandy Loam.
A complete description of these soils has been copied from the
Soil Survey document and is included along with a copy of the
soil map as Exhibit I-1.
Exhibit J - Vegetation Information
A description of the vegetation cover found on the site is
provided by the USDA-Soil Conservation documentation titled
"Range Condition Inventory" and the "Guide for Rating Range
Trend", and submitted as Exhibit J-1. In many areas the
undisturbed area is almost barren of any vegetative cover
due to the hea~ry concentration of surface gravel and little
topsoil material. The planned redistribution of gravel ladened
topsoil material and proposed grass seed mixture will upgrade
the vegetation cover in much of the present area.
Exhibit i\ - Climate
The climate of Otero County is semiarid. The average annual
rainfall is 12", and the average annual temperature is 53°.
The winters are dr}~ and mild; the summers, hot with very low
humidity. The evaporation rate exceeds the precipitation.
Most of the precipitation comes late in spring and in summer
as local thundershowers.
Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
As stated in the Reclamation Plan, the financial exposure is
expected to be held to the amount necessary to restore 8 to
10 acres including the area of temporary haul roads. There-
fore, the reclamation costs described in this exhibit are
computed on the basis of 10 acres.
Reclamation costs are computed as follows:
