The details of the SCS Tractive force design procedures are presented in Appendix B -North Fork <br />of the Gunnison River data. <br />Results show that boulders are stable for the cases of the wall and the bottom, however, since the <br />water in a large flood will hit the wall at an angle of between 60 to 90 degrees, scour of the em- <br />bankment earth under the large rock is a concern. In order to address this, the existing rock or con- <br />crete slabs will be imbedded in the bank for depth of at least 3 feet and the large boulders will be <br />placed on top of this rock. If the existing rock is not of sufficient size (at least 3 ft diameter) ,then <br />additional rock must be imported for this bedding layer.
