BOX 145
Brighton, CO 80601-0145
June 6, 1997
R~r~i~~Fp
Jun 0 g 1881
STATE OF COLORADO Olvl4i@!i ei mmoru~8 to 4aeeleQy
Division of Minera]s and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Attn: Gary Curtiss
Re: Deer Creek Quarry MLRD Permit Application Adequacy Response
Dear Gary:
This letter together with the attachments shall serve as our response to
your letter dated May 16, 1997. This response follows the numbered items
of your letter.
1. Attached is an Exhibit C map showing the adjacent ownership and
the permanent man made structures. The boundary is shown as
requested. We have also shown on this map, the locations of the
operational stockpile, parking, processing and topsoil locations.
2. Please find enclosed a mining plan Exhibit D submittal with the
narrative of the mining operations. Also please find enclosed
copies of all of the final drainage submittals that have been
approved by the DMG under the old permit, as prepared by Tuttle
Applegate and implemented by Western Mobile (Rocky Mountain Rock
Products).
3. Please disregard the old maps dating back prior to the Technical
Revision that was granted under the old permit to Western Mobile.
Highwalls shall be 80 to 110 feet, as they currently are on site,
throughout the mining operation; both temporary during mining and
the permanent product after mining has been competed. The average
will be maintained at 90 feet. The benches will be maintained at
an average of 40 feet, and may be greater during the course of
mining. Tlie highwall slopes will be '•;:1 to i:l upon completion,
with the average being held within this range. Current walls are
averaging within this range, with none steeper.
4. The new enclosed Exhibit F «ap shows the 20 acre boundary which
coincides with the current Jefferson County approved mining area.
We will consider this our Phase I mining area, within the 75+
acre MLRB permit boundary. Upon enlargement of the county area
we will submit our phase I1 mining plan and map. However, the
total disturbance area, unreclairned will actually decrease, since
the landowners have asked that the road up to the scale area
be left remaining upon completion of the mining. A letter from
them is attached. Please note that based upon the current county
trucking limitations in place, the phase I mapped area will provide
up to 16 years of reserves, at maximum shipping rates. -.-~
