The Wadge Seam will be mined out and production wIll be gradually phaseddown during the last few years. The
estimated mine life, based on maximum annual production of 12,000,000 tons, is 7-10 years. The actual mine life is
subject to reduction or extension dependent on coal market conditions.
Productivity estimates aze based on expected mining conditions and analysis of productivities at other western U.S.
mines. It is expected that steeper gradient and/or water inflows could significantly reduce development and mining
productivities, particulazly where mining occurs on the down-dip or up-dip margins of the synclinal basin. It is
assumed that six continuous miners and a single high-capacity longwall will be required to reach maximum yeazly
production. The continuous miner productivities would vary from 200,000 to 450,000 tons per year per unit
depending on location. Longwall productivity is expected to be approximately 6,000,000-11,000,000 tons per yeaz
per unit.
Labor Force
The Foidel Creek Mine Labor force schedule is shown in Table 47, Labor Force Schedule, Table 48, Hourly Labor
- Maximum Production, and Table 49, Salaried Labor -Maximum Production. The total number increases from an
estimated 47 in 1983, for a one section mine, to 502, at full production. The current work force is approximately
476 people (2005).
Minine Equipment
The Foidel Creek Mine will use standard mining methods and equipment commonly used in the western U.S. coal
industry. A longwall section will contain the following representative list of equipment:
170-190 Shield Roof Supports
Armored Face Conveyor
• Shearer
Stage Loader
Electrics
Hydraulic System
Miscellaneous Pumps and Tools
A typical continuous miner section will contain the following equipment:
Continuous Miner
Haulage Cars
Roof Bolter
Feeder Breaker
Electrics
Mantrip Vehicle
LHD Scoop
Parts Caz
Continuous Haulage System
Rock Duster
Miscellaneous Pumps and Tools
The following types of utility and support equipment will be utilized in the Foidel Creek Mine:
Electrical Distribution System
Conveyor Systems

TRO6-52 2.05- ] 0 02/ 17/05
