I comment as a resident of Puebio County who is concerned.
I am concerned, no, I worry about the potential impact on wildlife.
The application contains no study or documentation for a baseline of what wildlife and
habitat are there now and makes no provision for restoring either. Yet biologists have
estimated that the Greenhorn Creek WeNand zone, the riparian habitat, and surrounding
area are home to 250 species of animals.
Even though the proposed blasting agent is highly tobc, there is no analysis of fts travel
patterns. There isn~ evert a mention of the total amounts to be used. What about its
to:ac effects on the surrounding water, the soil, and the animals? What will its effects
be on the fish? The application doesn~ say.
The actual blasting and mining effects on wildlife are not mentioned, erther.
The proposed operation will be highly detrimental to wildlife, yet no provision is made to
undo, to reclaim, what wilt have been lost.
Wildlife is an asset for ail of us in Puebio County-an asset that a corporation should nat
he permitted to disregard for the sake of its own interests.
Sincerely, ~
Herzberger
~~
