Stevens
Re: Two Rivers Pit
File M-98-010
Dear Mr. Stevens
MAR 10 ~ggg
Division of Minerals & Geobgy
Following is our response to the concerns you have identified in
the adequacy review of the 111 permit application for Two Rivers
Pit, File M-98-010.
Exhibit C. part b: Stabilization of the topsoil stockpile with
vegetative cover will be enacted if this material is not utilized
within one growing season.
Exhibit C, part f: See Exhibit Map E for dimensions and outline of
the pit itself. Blue defines the permit area. Yellow defines the
mine area.
Exhibit C. part h: The amount of water estimated for dust control
is approximately 2000 gallons per day. The estimated amount of
water for a wash plant, if needed, is approximately 12,000 gallons
per day.
Exhibit C, parts i and is Ground water disturbance is not
anticipated. The only surface water on site now is impounded in
the stock dam. Any storm water will be handled by constructing
silt fences and berms in the low spots before any water could exit
the mine area.
Exhibit C: I do not anticipate any discharges of chemical
pollutants or polluted water from the asphalt or concrete plants;
however, we will have a berm encompassing the plant site and a
I-IDPE lined sediment pond at the low spot inside the bermed area if
such a discharge should ever occur.
Exhibit D: Storm water control devices, sediment basins, and silt
fences will be utilized within the areas being disturbed in the
locations where water will be exiting the mined property. Control
measures will be installed and maintained prior to ground
disturbance, during mining, and reclamation.
