Mr. Wesley Potts • -2- .April 14, 1983
Exhibit A
Please provide the legal description of all parts of the mining operation
~~2. (see below) to the nearest quarter quarter sections involved. At this
~~ point, the legal description I have is the SE'„ Section 14, T36W, R12W.
Exhibits B and C
1. A map should be provided that better illustrates the details of the
mining operation. The scale should be small enough (meaning the map
is large enough) to show all relevant details of the operation. A
\, distance scale and a directional arrow should be given. The location
(X\ of the portal, parking and equipment storage areas, water impoundments
(e.g., sediment ponds), waste rock dumps (if any), relationship to
nearby drainges, adjacent landowners (if any) and any other crucial
details should be illustrated.
2. A haul road to the operation is mentioned. If this haul road has
been constructed to be part of the operation (or greatly improved
from a very old road),'~it should be included as part of the operation.
The acreage it occupies should be added to the total affected acreage
/y~_ (and the application fee increased, as necessary). The road itself
should be shown on the map. Finally, details of its construction
(including ditching, culverting, etc.) should be given.
3. It is mentioned that all the ore will be taken off site to be milled.
This milling operation would seem to be an integral part of your mining
operation. According to our Rules and Regulations, such a processing
operation must be included in your permit. The milling operation
includes both the mill itself and the disposal area for tailings from
the mill. The milling operation should be described; the method of
tailings disposal should be outlined in detail; the acreage should be
expanded to take in the acreage involved (with another increase in the
application fee, as necessary); and a map of the milling operation land
should be provided. This is needed even if the milling operation is
on your ranch and some distance from the mine itself.
4. Further details are needed on the operation itself as concerns the
surface disturbance.
a. Are there adjacent stream drainages that should be protected
from the mining operation and the haul road? If so, how are
you planning to protect them?
h. Where will topsoil be stripped for later use in reclamation?
Areas to be disturbed near the portal for equipment storage,
parking, waste rock disposal, etc. should have available topsoil
stripped, stockpiled and planted with a perennial grass cover
crop for later use in reclamation. Please clarify this matter.
