BLM West Gravel Pit <br />Exhibit E <br />Reclamation Plan <br />Reclamation of the permit area will remm the site to a post mining land use of rangeland <br />Sufficient topsoil will be maintained to cover all mining areas in the permit area to a depth of 6"-12". <br />Because of the varying depths of topsoil at this site a depth of 6"-12" is a maximum depth to be achieving <br />at reclamation without hauling in topsoil from another site. Topsoil piles will be revegetatted with a <br />mixture of grasses to maintain topsoil viability and to prevent topsoil erosion. <br />The majority of reclamation will commence immediately upon fmal extraction of the mineral materials. <br />Reclamation will begin by reshaping and recontouring the staging area and pit area. This work wilt be <br />completed by the Jackson County Road and Bridge Department under the direct supervision of the Road <br />and Bridge Supervisor. The work will be done with a dozer, a scraper, and also a grader. Recontoured <br />slopes will not exceed 3:1. <br />Topsoil from the adjoining piles will be respread over all disturbed aeeas to a depth of at least 6" in <br />preparation of a uniform seed bed. The site will be seeded by the County with a mixture of native grasses <br />recommended by the Soil Conservation District at the time of seeding. A tentative seed mixture <br />recommended by the Soil Conservation District is attached. Seed shall either be drill seeded or shall be <br />broadcast seeded. If broadcast, the seed will se scratched into the soil. <br />Jackson County will monitor [he site on a monthly basis to determine revegetation success and to evaluate <br />the site stability. Jackson County will take any steps necessary to control soil erosion and repair damaged <br />lands. If after one season the seeding looks as though it will be a failure, Jackson County will reseed the <br />site or portions of the site in accordance with this plan. After final reclamation approval by the landowner <br />and the State, Jackson County will remove any County installed improvements such as gates, fences, and <br />signs. <br />Jackson County has a weed control department and will utilize this department to control any noxious <br />weeds that may occur on the site. <br />No more than 10 acres will be mined at one time and immediately after mining is complete Jackson County <br />will fence another 10 acres and be reclamation on the fast 10 acres. Fencing will be removed when <br />reclamation is at the satisfaction of the BLM . <br />
