-93-
MR. MASSEY: That's not to say we consider this hazardous waste, but we
felt that was a good conservative guideline to follow, and that's why we used
it.
MR. HOLDER: What's the acreage of this thing? How big is this leach
pad? I've forgotten.
MS. BALDRIGE: Forty-three acres, I believe. That doesn't include the
pond areas, that's simply the pad areas.
MR. DANIELSON: Anne, the -- I believe in your attempt to hit every
point, there are a couple of 'em that I didn't quite catch. On page 8, you
dealt with the first part of Item 3 on page 7, but there's a paragraph right
above Item 4 that the chemical storage areas and the flow bins will be
adjacent to the mill building, but it isn't stated what, if any, liner or
• other kind of leak prevention -- preventive material will be put under those
bins. Do you know that -- what -- is that -- do you have a plan for that and
what is it?
MS. BALDRIGE: As I previously discussed the flow bins themselves are
approved structures for handling and storage of sodium cyanide and, in
addition, the sodium cyanide solutions themselves have an inhibitor that does
not allow them to mobilize in either an aquis or gaseous form. "she area will
be visually monitored daily for leakage.
MR. DANIELSON: Okay, but it won't be lined or it won't have concrete or
asphalt or something like that on it1
MS. BALDRIGE: No. That's -- that is not a common practice„ particularly
when you are using flow bins -- these flow bins.
