The inspection was completed by Thomaz Leidich, ACZ Inc. Engineer in behalf of
ROCKCASTLE.
The 4 ponds were inspected during and afrer final reclamation work at the si[e was completed. The
ponds were inspected for structural problems related to the embankment, evidence of erosion, and other
hazardous conditions.
Following are the results of the October 1992 sediment pond inspections.
POND 2
As part of the final reclamation Pond 2 waz eliminated.
POND 3
As part of the final reclamation Pond 3 was eliminated.
POND 4
Pond 4 is an in~sed pond located west of the reclaimed Pit 4. As part of the final reclamation, the
highwall above the pond was reduced to a 3H:iV slope. Reduttion of the slope reduced the size of the
pond. In the addition to the highwall reduction the following changes were made:
• Lowered emergency spillway and replaced riprap.
• Raised low areas on embankment
• Added 1.5 feet to riser.
• Riprapped inlets
• Reduced slope at north end of pond for livestock access.
All changes were made in accordance with the reclamation design. As -built surveys of the pond were
completed and submitted to the Division. Afrer construction there was no water or sediment present
in the pond.
There were no burrows, gullies, cracks, slides, or seepage observed on the embankment sideslopes.
