Since <br />I nave pro+rlded you with a copy of the Dolores River basin report during <br />errlier rice evaluations, I am not enclosing a cosy this time. If you <br />should happen to neeu an additional co,~y, I Trill be happy to send one upon <br />our request. <br />,~s has Leon the race in the past, rre do not ha~re a detailed soil survey <br />covering this area in the office. 1•ir' field review indicated that the <br />;;r~cserl nest: tons and slopes have the only potential as sources of soil <br />for topsoiling, and it is marginal. It a,oeared that the grassy slopes <br />have 12 to ld° of soil material mi,:ed with cobble and rock. The Vanadium <br />Lode zinc generally had less than 12~~ of soil naterial over sandstone bed- <br />rocr.. Slopes ranged from nearl;,r level on the r•iesa tops to 115 ~ + on the <br />sideslr.pcs. There are no live watercourses that originate on the units. <br />The attached vegetative invent.ery sheets list the existing vegetative <br />ccnrvn_t.ies on .mdi.si,tri:ed areas of the units. Also included is the <br />percent of ;;round co•,er and present total annual rn•oduction. ds I have <br />oisc~,ssc^ with ,,:ou in t::e oast,, tht vegetative coa-nrnities in this area <br />are a cor.,posite of those plants I mould expect to find in the Foothills <br />arc: as anri t,:ne lo.;er :;c~ltcesert area.
