RECEIVED
SAP fl 7 20fl1
September 4, 2001
Division at Minerals and GealoAY
T0: Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St. Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
FROM: Daryl and Joyce Billings
P.O. Box 143
Henderson, CO.80640
RE: 124` Estates Sand and Gravel mine, Section 35, Township 1S,
Range 67W, 6"' Prime Meridian
~f}-5~ ~/ir~tt.~3 ~ rL of -Z~va / -o p5
To whom it may concern:
We have the following concerns regarding the proposed mining of this site:
Will the sealing of the pit stop the natural flow of water to the numerous
shallow wells in the area?
By digging into the shale beneath, will the quality of the deep aquifer be
compromised by seepage of the presently contaminated shallow aquifer
(nitrates, DIlV1P, or others)? In the case of the arsenal. DIlvIP traveled
several miles forward and down. In this case, contaminated water can more
easily move down a couple hundred feet.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
9
~ ,~~'A~ i ~ ~~AT
G°C' ~/~/- ~v~~
