<br />associated with the Munger operation. The coal mine waste generated from the <br />operation during the initial five year permit term is estimated to be 0 to 5,000 cubic <br />yards. The Mclane Canyon Mine has not generated a significant amount of coal mine <br />waste in the past few years. <br />The coal mine waste rock consists of coal fines and rock fragments generated <br />• <br />during development stages of the mining operations. The material will be from low <br />quality coal areas, rock slopes and from major roof falls. <br />As noted above, it is estimated that up to 5,000 cubic yards of material will be <br />generated from the McClane Canyon operations. The total disturbed area of the rock <br />disposal operation will be approximately 4.9 acres, including the required, stockpiles <br />and sedimentation controls. The capacity of the refuse disposal site is approximately <br />46,600 cubic yards or 9.3 years at 5,000 cubic yards per year. The maximum height <br />between the toe of the proposed fill and its ultimate top is approximately forty five feet. <br />Section D-D on Figure 2.2-7 is a typical cross section of the fill design. <br />Waste rock will be transported to the disposal site by on highway trucks which <br />will be loaded by front end loaders directly from the work area. Rock will be transported <br />and deposited at the surface by underground equipment for loading into trucks. An <br />intermediate storage area on the mine bench will be used. Water quality controls <br />designed for the mine bench area will suffice for the entire storage and working area. <br />The coal mine waste will be dumped at or near the final disposal location and spread by <br />tractor or dozer. The main function of the tractor or dozer will be to maintain access to <br />the dumping point for the trucks and to distribute and spread the material. The use of <br />this handling equipment will eliminate the buildup of piles and spread the material in <br />layers up to a maximum of two feet thick. <br />At present, no construction activities have occurred at the proposed site except <br />for the improvement of an existing road for access to the work area. Anew section of <br />haul road will be constructed along the toe of the fill and is shown on Figure 2.2-6. <br />The topography of the proposed disposal site varies from essentially level near <br />I• <br />the toe of the fill to slopes of 1.SH:1 V or steeper along the natural slope of the hillside. <br />The surficial soils at the site are of Rivra Loam Variant and Torriorthent series. <br />Permit Renewal <br />2-11 <br />09/03 <br />
