LIMITED IMPACT 110 A~ICATION FOR •
PIT NUMBER ONE
APPLICANT: MARILYN VAZQUEZBRUCE DIAMOND
EXHHiIT D
Reclamation Plan (Page 1 of 2)
It is the applicant's intent to engage in ongoing reclamation to avoid unsightliness or excessive
costs. Therefore, reclamation of this proposed operation will begin as soon as slopes are cut to
grade and the area to be reclaimed will not be disturbed, at approximately 20% (2 acres of 9)
excavated. Reclamation will begin on the slopes and proceed on the floor of the pit as it is no
longer needed for operation or product stockpiles.
There will be no overburden to replace. Slopes will have been originally cut no steeper than
2H:1 V. Topsoil stockpiles placed at the top of the slopes will be readily accessible for grading
into place.
The following procedure for reclamation is based on general recommendations by the Soil
Conservation Service and recommendations specific to this property from the Mountain Meadows
Research Center, a division of the Colorado State University Extension Office:
Topsoil will be replaced to a depth of 4" to 8". Slopes will have an average topsoil depth of 6".
The topsoil will be prepared as needed to avoid overcompaction.
Broadcast grass seeding is proposed for the fall at the rate of 25 pounds of pure live seed per
acre. The applicant proposes to use Dry Land Pasture Mix. According to product information,
this seed mix is recommended for unirrigated pastures up to 10,500 feet elevation and should be
applied at a rate of 15-25 pounds per acre. This mix consists of the following species:
Lincoln Smooth Brome 15% 3.75 Ib/ac
Ephraim Crested Wheat 15% 3.75 Ib/ac
Tetraploid Per. Rye Grass 15% 3.75 Ib/ac
Intermediate Wheat Grass 25% 6.25 Ib/ac
Nordan Crested Wheat Grass 15% 3.75 lb/ac
Russian Wild Rye 15% 3.75 Ib/ac
TOTAL 100% 25.0 LB/AC
According to Mountain Meadows Research Center, fertilizer is not recommended due to soil type
and extreme dry conditions. Similarly, the above listed Bass species were chosen based on this
agency's recommendations.
No revegetation of trees or shrubs is proposed. None exist prior to the proposed operation.
The access roadway will be left in place after reclamation. The roadway is in place today as the
Applicant's driveway and access road. Use of the road will continue after the life of the mine(pit).
