LIMITED IMPACT 110 A~ICATION FOR •
PIT NUMBER ONE
APPLICANT: MARILYN VAZQUEZBRUCE DIAMOND
EXHIIiTI' C
MIIVING PLAN (Page 1 of 2)
This proposed operation is to provide Construction Materials to the industry in the Upper
Arkansas River Valley. Primary products will be graded sands and gravels, cobbles and boulders.
Topsoil is anticipated as a secondary product. The products are to be processed on this site by a
portable screen. This operation will not have any structures. It will not use any water or
chemicals, and it will not disturb any ground or surface water.
Operation will commence upon notification by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board that
all permit requirements have been met. The anticipated life of this operation is approximately 40
years.
Excavation will begin on the north end of the Affected Area and proceed southerly. Very rocky
topsoil covers this site to a depth of approximately 2 feet. Topsoil for reclamation will be
screened to remove rocks larger than 6" and stockpiled in rows at the top of the cut on the east,
west and north sides of the Affected Area. The topsoil stockpiles will be sloped no greater that
2H:1 V, to minimize erosion. Based on local experience, the stockpile will quickly revegetate from
native seed.
Slopes into the pit will be cut at the rate 2H:1 V, in preparation for reclamation. At a vertical
depth of approximately 20 feet below the existing ground, the pit will be flattened, possibly with a
,~
slight downhill slope to the south.
All materials below the growth medium are usable. No overburden or waste rock is anticipated.
Excavation will be done as material is needed. All other stockpiling will be minimal and
temporary, and will be contained within the pit.
This proposed operation will consist of an existing access road from the county road to the pit
(across the applicant's property), the single pit excavation, and a portable screen. No structures
or any other facilities are planned.
The Affected Area to contain the actual pit of this proposed operation is 300 feet east-west by
1325 feet north-south, with proposed buffers of 50 feet on the north, and 25 feet on the east, west
and south. The pit will measure 250 feet by 1250 feet.
The access road to this proposed operation, from Chaffee County Road No. 301 (see Exhibit A,
Affected Area, Parcel 2, Access Road), is approximately 700 feet long. It is the existing driveway
used by the Applicant to enter their property. The driveway continues on an existing farm road
and enters Parcel 1-Pit of the Affected Area. The existing road surface is unimproved and will be
upgraded and maintained with material from this pit as needed.
EXHIBIT C
