SOILS INE'OFMATION, Study Area, E'~ Section 7, Zbrmship 4 North, Range 86
West.
Comprehensive site specific information on soils was collected in
the study azea. A soil survey was conducted by the SCS wherein soil
mapping units wire determined. S1~bsequent field studies were conducted
by EFC to refine the original soils mapping and to collect additional
data relative to the study area. The Eckman Park Soils Map (Map 30)
contains the information wllected in wnnection with the study.
Soils mapping unit descriptions and soil profile descriptions for
n
U
the Gaop Clay Loam Series found in this azea are contained on pages 14
and 7 of Exhibits 18 and 19 respectively. 74ie 26 backhce pits shown on
Eclanan Park Stream Channel Cross Sections (Map 51) were all used to
correlate the typical SCS soil profile description with profiles encoun-
tered on the study site. Soil depths in the 28 backhce pits are pre-
sented in Exhibit 6, Drill Hole Logs. Rooting depth measurements were
taken for each soil pit and transferred to the cross sections on Map 51
az the depth of the water table for each site.
Chemical and physical analyses of the Gapo clay loam series aze
•
presented in Table 71. Water holding capacity of this soil was classi-
fied as good with an average saturation percentage of 33.8 percent.
Texture of the material was determined to be loam. Organic matter
content was found to range from 6.9 to 10.3 percent. Calcium carbonate
of the Gapo clay loam series was found to be below less than 15 percent
(Tables 79 and 80).
785-9(f)
