I
Therefore, it will be necessary for the Company to mine .and
process this material . Lower-grade material and/or pilot plant W
reject material will be combined with mulch and fertilizer and
allowed to weather to create an artificial topsoil which will
be used in reclamation.
All material moved and processed in the mining and
processing operation will be retained within the boundaries of
the permit area, except for the are product and except for
screened sand which may be sold. There will be no discharge of
material of any kind from the permit area.
, I Sr i , o Q1 n J.J
The mined ore will be processed through the pilot
plant , which utilizes a wet gravity con-cefftration—system. The
present rated capacity of the plant , after initia screening,
is 60-80 tons per hour, but this capacity may be enlarged in
the future . The system involves first the sizing of the
material to produce a medium-grained product (less than about
20 to 40 mesh and more than about 325 mesh) . This product will
then be processed using several gravity separation methods to
produce a heavy mineral concentrate. The coarse and mediu
grained reject material will be stockpiled or use in roadw v W Q.:R t
improvement armor possible sale, with the excess returned to
e mined out areas as backfill . The fine grained reject
material will be dewatered and pumped or hauled to the
mined-out areas also for use as backfill. Some excess or
overflow reject material may from time to. times d in theJ%
`fempor_aryJov_e`rfl_ow storage area situated_ in Honsnl r.,,ich
—'tween the two water storage reservoirs . However, such
storage will only be temporary and the stored material will
when feasible be hauled to a mined-out area for use as
backfill . A drainage ditch on the south edge of the storage
area will be established so that the reject material will not
be carried away by intermittent stream flow, and a lined
spillway will be constructed over the south edge of the reject
material storage area.
The pilot plant also will be used to a certain degree
in the bulk sample testing of material from other properties ,
the mining of which samples will be conducted under an approved
notice ,to conduct prospecting operations , or otherwise by
approval .
The overall schedule of activity in the mining and
reclamation program will consist of two phases . As each
approximately ten-acre mining increment is completed and a new
one begun, reclamation will commence in the deactivated mining
area.
I
-5-
