EXHIBIT D - MINING PLAN <br /> See maps attached hereto and labeled EXHIBIT D-1 and <br /> EXHIBIT D-2 . <br /> The area to be mined by Marathon Gold Corporation has <br /> been extensively prospected and intermittently mined for gold <br /> since at least the 1930s . These early placer mining operations <br /> resulted in the excavation of a large, irregular linear area ? <br /> northwest of and lying parallel with Housel Gulch. In <br /> addition, two dams were built to entrap surface water outflow <br /> from y near s� prings for water for the placer mining <br /> operations . Several buildings and other evidences of <br /> occupation still remain from this early mining period. No <br /> reclamation was performed on land disturbed by these early <br /> operations . <br /> The prree5.ent- eq eration will involve the excavation of a <br /> succession o contiguous shallow open nits of about ten acres <br /> in size to a depth of about 50 feet or. leas to provi ea are <br /> material for t e pilot plant located within the permit area. <br /> The operation will be a placer mining operation. The Company <br /> anticipates that each ten acre block may take on the order of <br /> one to twpyears to mine. Each pit during mining will be an <br /> area of-"major disturbance" . The total area of major <br /> disturbance at any one time will total a maximum of about _ <br /> twenty acres , including a maximum of about ten acres for the (� <br /> S a OW o en 1 a ou seven_ acres or t e �1 Ot ant site _ <br /> an topsoil storage area and abo_u_t three acres for temporary./ <br /> overflow s orage o ine rained reiect material . The ten acre <br /> ore b oc s are sc erratically shown in the map labeled as <br /> EXHIBIT D-1 . However, because sampling and grade <br /> determinations are not yet complete , the shapes of the blocks <br /> and the sequence of mining have not yet been determined. <br /> The ore consists of soft , friable , poorly consolidated <br /> and oxidized sands and clays of the Wasatch formation, so that <br /> _ no blasting will be required. A dozer with ripper and dozer <br /> blade, or equivalent , will break up the ore and push the ore <br /> into heaps from which a rubber-tired front end loader, or <br /> equivalent , will transport the ore to the crusher hopper. <br /> Material underlying the material to be mined is unoxidized, <br /> moderately consolidated sands and clays of the Wasatch <br /> formation. <br /> Present sampling results indicate that significant <br /> gold values may exist in topsoil above the ore blocks . <br /> I <br /> -4- <br />
