RPR-08-1999 10 40 RGRPITO RSSOCIRTE9 970 245 9234 P.03 <br />Draft: April 7, 1999 P, age 1 <br />American Soda, L.L.P. <br />Yankee Gulch Sodium Minerals Project <br />ADDENDUM NO.1 TO THE <br />"GROUNDWATER AND SURFACE WATER MONITORING PLAN" <br />6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL <br />Water quality laboratory analyses will be conducted in accordance with a plan approved by <br />the BLM. A State of Colorado certified laboratory will be used for off-site water quality analysis. <br />American Soda will use the USGS analytical Iahoratory, preferentially, ro perjvrm annual third- <br />party validation ojwater quality data. American Soda will maintain afull-time environmental <br />coordinator who will asswe adherence to the QA/QC plan. <br />6.1 Groundwater Sampling Methods <br />Groundwater sampling will be performed in accordance with the standard operating <br />procedures (SOP) developed for the site. The SOP for groundwater sampling is included as <br />Appendix C and provides detailed instructions on the following topics: <br />- Equipment required <br />- Instrument calibration <br />- Well pwging <br />- Sample collection <br />- Sample filtration <br />- Field QA/QC procedwes <br />Clean, decontaminated equipment will be used for all sampling activities. Decontamination <br />will be performed in accordance with the procedwes given is Appendix D, Standard Operating <br />Procedure for Equipment Decontamination. <br />6.2 Calibration Procedures and Frequency <br />All instruments and equipment used during sampling and analysis will be operated, <br />calibrated, and maintained according to the manufactwer's guidelines and recommendations aswell <br />as criteria set forth in the applicable analytical methodology references.
