As you may know, we have an extremely tight schedule with the Division of Minerals
and Geology review process which cannot move ahead until the Berming and Landscaping Plan
is approved by the City. Therefore, we request that you expedite the review of this plan in order
to help us remain on a reasonable schedule with the State of Coloredo.
Ow responses to yow letter of July 5 and ow July 12 discussions are as follows below:
Landscape Plan -Berm `A'
1. The primary goal of the betming and landscape treatment along the southern boundary of the
mining site is to mitigate the visual impacts of the mining activities from I-70. Although the
landscape component of the plan illustrates approximately 22 trees and 80 shrubs on the
berm, the proposal falls short in adequately mitigating the mining site from I-70. I have
included a rough elevation of the proposed plan to illustrate my point.
In order to achieve the aforementioned goal, we recommend that you specify an additional 30
trees on the 10,000 s.f. Berm A template (35% of the additional tree material shall be
evergreen). As a tradeoff you can eliminate 30 shrubs. I would suggest that you reduce
most of the sagebrush and rabbitbrush, and include common lilac to your plant palette.
Resaonse: This item was discussed at the July 12 meeting referenced above. It was agreed that
we would add IS more trees to Berm A, rather than the 30 as originally requested Thirty shrubs
have been eliminated from this berm as well as recommended in your letter Div plant palette
for Berm A now includes common lilac in the place of sagebrush and rabbitbrush
2. The proposed berming and landscape plan generally depicts the plant types and quantities of
each type associated with the planting scheme but does not identify each individual species
on the planting plan.
Each individual plant shall be specifically identified on the plan view planting plan.
Response: Every individual plant in our berm detail Has now been labeled as requested
3. An elevation of the berm and associated planting scheme would be very beneficial in
determining the effect of the mitigation screen.
I would recommend you provide an elevation in addition to the plan view drawing.
Response: Completed See Sheet 3.
box 947 -eagle, co 81631 - 970.328.6299 -fax 970.328.6254
