d) Wildlife
No significant amount of wildlife has been encountered during any of the visits
to the site. Since the Chief Creek runs about an eighth of a mile south of the
site, deer and waterfowl sometimes frequent the creek area. Other normal
species appearing at the site could be coyotes, rabbits, skunks, badgers, and
pheasants. There are no known threatened or endangered species.
EXHIBIT C -Mining Plan
a) The mining is expected to begin as soon as possible after a permit is obtained.
The operation will provide sand for use in making concrete in a local concrete
plant in the area. It may also provide some material far road construction or
landscaping. Anticipated life of the pit is five years.
b) The mining plan is to begin removal of the material beginning at the north end
of the pit area and proceed southward. Excavation will continue as the need
for material continues and, as the supply remains available. There is currently
about 4 inches of material that might be considered topsoil. The topsoil will
be stripped and stockpiled for later use in re-vegetation. The topsoil stockpile
will be seeded with vegetation to prevent wind erosion.
The next 4 to 5 feet of material is not suitable for use in the manufacture of
concrete. It will be mined and sold for landscaping or other construction
purposes. The desired sand material occurs from a depth of 5-20 feet.
c) There would appear to be no waste rock or material at the site.
d) Mining is anticipated to a depth of 20 feet. No slopes will be left greater than
3:1.
e) The pit will be accessed from an existing trail used for previous pits in the
area and for checking cattle through the rangeland, ultimately exiting onto the
county mad system on Co. Rd. 37. No new roadways will be built. The trail
roadway will be left in place at the end of the operation for use by the
landowner. There will be no shop, plant, or other facilities located at the mine
site. The equipment used to mine the gravel will be a fiant-end loader, large
track hce, dozer, and trucks. Some stockpiling of material may be done at the
site, but most of the material will be utilized as it is mined. The anticipated
stockpile area is shown on the mining plan. No processing of material is
anticipated at the site.
f) There are no existing disturbances to describe at the site.
