REVIEW QUESTION
• 2.05.4
(2)(c) 4. The sediment ponds southwest of the pit along County Road 53
have not yet been reclaimed. The applicant must submit a plan for recon-
structing the stream channel in this area consistent with 4.05.4.
occonucr
The following schedule is plannted to reclaim ponds H-G 6 and
H-G 7 along County Road 53.
The original drainage in which the two ponds were constructed is
illustrated in Exhibit II, Exhibit V. The cross sections show
that no stream channel was present. Rather the area was a wet
meadow plant community. H-G Coal Company intends to re-
establ ish the original stream gradient and expects that the wet
meadow will re-establish naturally.
n
U
Soil removed during the construction of the ponds included both
A and B horizon. The A horizon was stored in topsoil stockpile
C and the B horizon was backfilled into the pit.
B horizon will be placed in the bottom of the ponds and approxi-
mately 24 inches of topsoil will be placed on the surface.
Once the original gradient is re-established the newly applied
topsoil will be tested to determine if additional nutrients
(fertilizer) are necessary.
•
