Consistency in sampling methodology shall be required in comparisons <br />between the reclaimed area and undisturbed areas. <br />• RESPONSE <br />On June 16, 1980, prior to commencing the reference areas <br />study, a tour of the mine was made by the following individuals: <br />Ms. Carol Pahlke and Mr. Jim Herron, Reclamation Specialists, <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division; Mr. Cass Legal of HG <br />Coal Company; Mr. Larry Jackson, Environmental Engineer for <br />Yaznpa Mining Company; and Mr. David Duba, Environmental <br />Engineer for MorrisonKnudsen Company, Inc. The purpose of <br />the tour was to determine the necessary information be collected <br />~in the reference areas study. <br />• <br />Prior to initiation of the study, a second meeting was held at the <br />CMLRB offices in Denver on July 25, 1980 with the same people - <br />in attendance. The purpose of this meeting was to review the _ <br />proposed scope of work with the regulatory personnel. Mea- <br />suring techniques were discussed to insure consistency in sam- <br />pling methodology. <br />Measurement techniques in the reference areas study will be <br />essentially the same as those to be used to evaluate success of <br />reclamation. Sampling methodologies will be the same on refer- <br />ence and reclaimed areas. <br />4.15.7(2) The plan for revegetation required as part of a permit applica- <br />tion in 2.05.4(2) (e) includes a description of measures proposed to be <br />used to determine the success of revegetation. Such description shall, at <br />a minimum, contain the following information: <br />(a) A discussion of the applicable success criteria under 4.15.8, <br />4.15.9 or 4.15.10, and how the revegetation plan will allow for these <br />success criteria to be met; <br />RESPONSE <br />The applicable criteria for HG Coal Company are in Item 4.15.8. <br />Present postmining land use does not include cropland (4.15.9) <br />or previously mined land or land to be developed for industrial <br />or residential use (4.15.10). Criteria for Section 4.15.8 are <br />• discussed there. -, <br />
