2.05.4 (e) (iv) Mulching Techniques <br />• RESPONSE <br />Mulch will be applied promptly on all topsoiled areas in order to <br />control erosion, promote germination of seeds, and increase the <br />moisture-rentention capacity of the soil. <br />Mulch to be used will most likely be of the following type(s). <br />1) Straw mulch -This would be applied with a straw mulch <br />blower and then crimped into the ground. Suggested <br />straw-mulch application rates will average about 1.5 tons/ <br />acre. <br />2) Woodchips or woodfiber mulch - This would be applied .. <br />with a hydromulcher at a rate of approxunately 1.5 tons/ <br />acre. The hydromulcher and seed will be applied in separ- _ <br />ate passes. This is done to orevent suspension of seed in <br />the mulch (this often occurs in single pass operations). ~.~ <br />• 2.05.4 (e) (v) Irrigation, if appropriate, and pest and disease control <br />measures, if any; <br />RESPONSE <br />'No irrigation or pest-disease control meansures are planned at <br />this time. <br />2.05.4 (e) (vi) Measures proposed to be used to determine the success <br />of revegetation as required and in accordance with 4.15.7. <br />RESPONSE <br />A vegetation reference areas study was conducted to provide a <br />basis for future vegetation comparisons with reclaimed lands. <br />This report is contained in Volume III, Section G, Subsection 2 <br />of this permit. Measures to be used for judging revegetation <br />success are described unde the appropriate subheadings of <br />Section 4.15.7. <br />4.15.7 Determing Revegetation Success: <br />. General Requirements and Standards <br />Success of revegetation shall be measured by techniques approved by the <br />Division after consultation with appropriate state and federal agencies. <br />
