Long
Drvmon Director
Re: Iron Mountain Road Gravel Pit Application, File No. M-94-092,
Adequacy Review Letter
Dear Mr. Butler,
I have just completed an adequacy review of the above-named permit
application, and wish to bring the following items to your
attention for their adequacy or further clarification:
EXHIBIT A - LEGAL DESCRIPTION
Adequate.
EXHIBIT B - SITE DESCRIPTION
Is it correct that the entrance/access road does not yet exist, and
Q~ that it will be constructed solely for the use of the county's
gravel pit? Language in the BLM agreement refers to the total
reclamation of the road, correct?
EXHIBIT C - MINING PLAN
You propose to stockpile topsoil in the northwest corner, in the
(ail-- 50-foot setback. Will topsoil from all phases of the operation be
stockpiled there? Will topsoil hauling to that location occur on
a specific onsite road, or will hauling routes vary?
The general post-mining land configuration is to be a slight
~1.~ depression, which will contain stormwater. The BLM agreement
specifies that positive drainage must take place if ponding occurs.
Please describe or clarify the surface drainage.
What is to be the depth of mining at the pit? What will the slope
of the active highwalls be during mining?
Please describe the loadout structure in better detail, ie., what
~~- it is to be constructed of, is its location to change depending on
the area of active excavation, etc.?
Temporary topsoil seeding is planned to be performed, but with what
~~ mix of species or rate?
