-6- <br />• 2. Endangered Species. <br />It is recommended that the Threatened and Endangered Species <br />lists be obtained. It is needed to assure completeness of the permit <br />(application. Also the publication titled "Essential Habitat for <br />\Threatened and Endangered Species of Colorado" should be obtained. <br />This would be helpful to compare Trapper Mine habitat to that compared % ~,, r~ <br />in the publication. This would help in explaining why Trapper Mine ~ ~r ,~ <br />J f '',.', <br />Operations will not have an affect on the species as suitable habitats. <br />i <br />Raptor surveys for existing and possible nesting site locations <br />r ~' ~ <br />must be done in early May. According to indications received from the <br />BLM, this is an important survey. Two men will be needed to do this <br />survey. It is recommended that this survey plan be drawn up, evaluated <br />and then put into effect. <br />In addition, Federal and State agencies should be contacted to <br />• obtain a list of thoses species considered Threatened or Endangered <br />within the permit area. <br />3. Big Game <br />It is recommended that the pellet group census be continued and <br />the necessary new pellet transects added. Transects should be surveyed <br />spring and fall. <br />The browse utilization surveys should remain discontinued. Due <br />to Livestock grazing, the results of these surveys would show a great <br />deal of uncertainty as to the reliability of the results. <br />^ It is evident documenting calving and fawning grounds within the <br />mine plan area, if it does occur, will be difficult. The Ranking <br />Charts would be helpful and should be obtained. Aground survey must <br />• also be made. Any mine imformation obtained would be beneficial on <br />E-12 <br />
