This inforntation is submitted in compliance with the Twentymile Coal
Company Permit C-82-056 and CMLRD Rule 4.05.6(13).
The following maintenance items were performed for the ponds associated with Permit
C-S2-056:
• Sediment removed from Pond D.
• Sediment removed from Pond B.
• Inlet ditch re-graded at Pond F.
• Reference elevations re-surveyed at Pond G.
• Riser and emergency spilhvay work completed at Fish Creek Tipple pond.
Approximately 2,020 cubic yards of sediment was removed from the inlet of Pond D and
placed on the refuse pile. Approximately 120 cubic yards of sediment was removed fl~om
the upper section of Pond B and also placed on the refuse pile.
The inlet ro Pond F was partially re-graded and rock placed in the channel after the blow-
out of the rock checks which were installed in the third quarter of 1997. This drainage
requires additional shaping and check dams re-installed to prevent further erosion.
The water surface elevation reported for the third quarter inspection at Pond Ci was
6828.7 and the lowest riser hole elevation was reported at 6828.5, which would indicate
that discharge was occurring. However, the water level at the time of the inspection was
below the riser pipe no discharge was occurring. The staff gauge, top of riser, lowest
riser hole, emergency spilhvay, and first post in the pond were surveyed using GPS on
November 11. 1997. The reference elevations were within 0.2 to 0.3 feet of the previous
is\document\4thQtr97.doc
