' ROUGH BROKEN LAND, MESA, CHIPEfA, AND PERSAYO SOIL MATERIALS,
t Class YIIIs Land (Rr)
' This land type occupies very steep escarpments - 25 to 140 feet
high -along the south bank of the Colorado River and rough, rugged
' terrain along tributary drainageways or arroyos. Slopes generally
ran3e from 12 to 30 percent along the drainageways but are much steeper
' along the escarpment adjoining the Colorado River. The soil materials,
10 to 20 feet deep wer the Mancos shale, include a layer of sand
gravel, cobbles, and stones 6 to 15 feet thick that immediately over-
lies the shale.
Soil limitations are classified as severe for local roads and streets
(slopes), shallow excavations (slopes, depth to shale), dwellings
(slopes, depth to shale), and sewage lagoons (slopes over 15;6). The
' property is highly variable regarding its limitations for septic tank
filter fields and requires on-site investigation.
1
1

1
1
1

1
