CHEROFEE.SR'MP ~ ~ • ~I:\Y 13. 1997
Material Hrnrdli~7g:
This clay pit is located in Section 10, Township 20 South, Range 70 West of Fremont County,
Colorado.
The configuration of this pit will allow BMI-France personnel to form a stockpile along the
northwest portion of the pit and have that stockpile contain any runoff from the pit. The stockpile
will consist of 2,000 tons of clay raw material. The stockpile will be 18 feet high and 18 feet wide
at the top with sides sloping at a 45 degree angle. The stockpile will extend to both sides of the
pit, approximately 40 feet in length.
A 2 inch rainfall on this pit would be contained behind the stockpile {berm) and produce an
accumulation of rainwater to a depth of 1.2 feet at the deepest point, assuming a permeability
factor of 0.50 For this clay material. This area of Colorado is capable of evaporating 60 to 65
inches of precipitation per year.
Erosion and Sediment Control:
Erosion from the downstream side ofthe berm/stockpile and the haul road can be reduced with a
slit fence constructed for the point where the haul road enters this property to the north comer of
the stockpile.
Non-Stormwater Dischara~ Certification
This certification is provided by Bradley J. Mueller, Quality Assurance Manager of BMI-France ,
owner of the refractory plant, located at 309 South Eleventh Street in Canon City, Colorado.
During dry weather conditions and normal working hours, this pit was observed for any
noa-stormwater discharges.
I certify that no non-stormwater discharges were found to exist during the investigation of this
site.
Signature:
Title:
Date:
Pagc 4
