CHEROFEE.SR'MP ~ ~ • ~I:\Y 13. 1997 <br />Material Hrnrdli~7g: <br />This clay pit is located in Section 10, Township 20 South, Range 70 West of Fremont County, <br />Colorado. <br />The configuration of this pit will allow BMI-France personnel to form a stockpile along the <br />northwest portion of the pit and have that stockpile contain any runoff from the pit. The stockpile <br />will consist of 2,000 tons of clay raw material. The stockpile will be 18 feet high and 18 feet wide <br />at the top with sides sloping at a 45 degree angle. The stockpile will extend to both sides of the <br />pit, approximately 40 feet in length. <br />A 2 inch rainfall on this pit would be contained behind the stockpile {berm) and produce an <br />accumulation of rainwater to a depth of 1.2 feet at the deepest point, assuming a permeability <br />factor of 0.50 For this clay material. This area of Colorado is capable of evaporating 60 to 65 <br />inches of precipitation per year. <br />Erosion and Sediment Control: <br />Erosion from the downstream side ofthe berm/stockpile and the haul road can be reduced with a <br />slit fence constructed for the point where the haul road enters this property to the north comer of <br />the stockpile. <br />Non-Stormwater Dischara~ Certification <br />This certification is provided by Bradley J. Mueller, Quality Assurance Manager of BMI-France , <br />owner of the refractory plant, located at 309 South Eleventh Street in Canon City, Colorado. <br />During dry weather conditions and normal working hours, this pit was observed for any <br />noa-stormwater discharges. <br />I certify that no non-stormwater discharges were found to exist during the investigation of this <br />site. <br />Signature: <br />Title: <br />Date: <br />Pagc 4 <br />
