Brushoak will be intermittently transplanted from an <br /> adjacent unmined area to a reclaimed area <br /> The reclaimed area will be inspected periodically for re-vegetation success and any erosion. If <br /> needed, spot reseeding will be implemented. If necessary, a weed managemem plan will be <br />' adopted to prevent the invasion of noxious weeds during reclamation. Any erosion observed <br /> will be stabilized by utilizing hay bales. Equipment and human activity will be kepc off a <br /> reclaimed area for two growing seasons after reseeding. <br />' <br /> Upon completion of the mining in Phase III reclamation of the lower sedimem pond will begin <br /> also. Remnants of the stock piled topsoil from the pit site will be spread over the bottom <br />' portion of the pond. The topsoil is needed to supplement that portion of the pond bottom <br /> which has been previously damaged from sedimentation and inundation. No major grading is <br /> anticipated in the pond area as it will still be used as a sedimentation control for the upper pit <br />' area during the final two growing seasons for Phase III of the pit <br /> Both the existing access road from Baptist road (18' ROW) to the pit site and the proposed <br /> access road will be utilized by the land owner as single track ranch service roads for access to <br /> various pastures and operation areas after mining operations have ceased. Some reclamation <br /> will be required in reseeding or erosion control therefore these mad portions aze included <br /> within the permitted areas. The applicant will coordinate these efforts according to state <br /> requirements. The ultimaze intent is to encourage and re-establish vegetation growth in the <br /> roadways exclusive of the normal travelway of a ranch vehicle. <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />M. Figure 1.1 and the Site Topography Map in the Appendix illustrate existing drainage <br />patterns. Drainage originates west of and above the site in the upper gravel pit area as sheet <br />flow on existing 3% slopes. Runoff then travels east through the site area in sheet flow and <br />shallow concentrated flow on existing slopes of 20%-30%. Runoff is then discharged as sheet <br />flow over gentler slopes of 10%a-12% immediately west of Beaver Creek above it confluence <br />with Hay Creek. <br />The lower sedimentation pond has served as a retention basin for the upper existing drainage <br />areas and will continue in a similaz manner for runoff during mining operations and <br />afterwards. Until the final mining segment is complete the actual excavated area will provide <br />detention for surface runoff. <br />The lower existing slopes and relatively dense vegetation below the site will maintain runoff as <br />sheet flow with decreased velocities and less erosion potential, while runoff dischazging <br />through the southern portions of the pit area is detained within the sedimentation pond. With <br />the on-site erosion control measures and phased reclamation, sedimentation from the site area <br />is therefore not expected to enter Beaver Creek . As mining operations expand to lower <br />segments the previously mined segment will be reclaimed minimizing the surface area of <br />disturbed soil. <br />3.
