Short-term Lease Application C-27103
Comment
• "The well permit (`23918-F) for the use of mine v:ater at ±he
Nawks Nest East Mine was a?Droved by the State Engineer's
Office in November, 197°. The applicant must still, however,
obtain a 4later Court deer== prior to the use of this well.
• Because this well will be a junior water right on the over-
appropriated North Fork of the Gunnison River, the well vrill be
subject to curtailment during calls by senior appropriators
unless it is operating under a court approved plan for aug-
mentation".
Response
See errata for text change.
Chapter 3
Short-term Lease Application C-27432
Comment
•' "In the section entitled "Mineral Resources" of Chapter 3, the
! USGS discussion of Maximum Economic Recovery for lease appli-
cation C-27432 should be incorporated into the discussion as it
,. reflects a slightly more detailed discussion of ultimate recovery
by longwall techniques on the bottom half of the seam".
Response
As noted in the Background section of Chapter 1, the proposed
action and impact analysis were developed from plans submitted
by the applicant to mine the tract. Neither the shori-term
lease application (C-27432) nor the applicant's approved mining
plan for their private and federal coal reserves indicate that
longwall mining methods would be used to recover coal lying in
the bottom half of the D seam on this tract. Therefore, the
analysis of coal recovery presented in Chapter 3 for lease
application C-27432 has net been changed:
Short-term Lease Application C-27103
Comment
In the discussion of hydrologic impacts, the TE/EA states that
the quality of water in the area ar"fected by mining ^n les e
application area C-27103 should not be significantly different
from that of the premining discharge. No supporting informa-
tion is given.
n
