Plan Summary <br />If noxious weeds become a problem during the mining and/or reclamation phases of this project, <br />a weed control plan will be prepared by a Licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator (LCPA). <br />Al] subsequent weed control activities will also be conducted by an LCPA. The plan to be <br />prepared will take the form of an Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPM) which will consider all <br />methods of control which would potentially be applicable to the project area. These methods <br />include mechanical, chemical, cultural, and biological techniques. Prior to plan preparation, a <br />visit to the project area will be conducted by the LCPA to assess site conditions, routes of access, <br />weedy species present, locations of water bodies, potential sources of run-on and run-off, wind <br />conditions, and any other factors relevant to the weed control planning process. Given the <br />presence of adjacent wetlands and other Waters of the U, emphasis will be given to weed control <br />methods other than those of a chemical nature. <br />Chemical herbicides do exist which aze safe and applicable for use in and near wetlands and <br />other Waters of the U. S. Where necessary, safe and efficient chemical control methods will be <br />employed. It is anticipated, however, that where chemical control methods are specified, the <br />application method will take the form of "spot" applications (with "selective" herbicides) as <br />opposed to "broadcast" applications to reduce the potential for contamination of soil, water, and <br />air. Herbicide transportation, storage, mixing, loading, application, and disposal methods will <br />comply with all applicable requirements of State and Federal laws. <br />Revegetation activities following site closure work must be timed to coincide with a recognized <br />planting season. Grading and ripping may ordinarily occur during any month of the year. <br />However, resoiGng and revegetation activities are more limited with respect to the time of year in <br />which they can be completed. Tables E-6: Preferred (Fall) Revegetation Schedule and E-7: <br />Alternate (Springy Revegetation Schedule depict the schedules, on a monthly basis, to be <br />followed to achieve the revegetation objectives set for this project. Site conditions and/or <br />climatic variables may require that this schedule be modiSed somewhat to achieve revegetation <br />success. <br />
