z
discharges downhill of the Canal and travels down the hill towards the North Fork of the
Gunnison River (Photograph Nos.29 & 30). There is no need or plans to enlarge this
pipe. At the time of this site visit, Bowie was using a pump (Photograph No. 20) to
dewater the pond. Apparently, sediment has plugged or partially plugged the inlet for the
discharge pipe.
Conclusions
From Reclamation's perspective the meeting was satisfactory. Bowie is attempting to
eliminate storm water discharge into the Canal -directly or indirectly. Though water
from the Ditch is still entering the Canal at various locations (Photograph Nos. 31 - 34)
and there are seepage and leaks from the Ditch to the Canal (Photograph No. 35), Bowie
is making progress to eliminate mine runoff discharge from entering the Canal.
Reclamation and its managing entity will continue to monitor the situation and
communicate with Bowie and the State of Colorado to ensure that storm water discharges
are eliminated to the maximum extent possible.
Travelers Date
/~~ ~~'
~~,~~ -
rye 2 i ~os
Kathleen Ozga
Robert L.
