Simpson, ueputy State Engineers . ~(•/-~"
SUBJECT: Gold Hill hurling Company, Cash Mine Amendment, h183-141
As requested, we have rEVlEwed the aoove rererenced amendment to an
application to mine gold ana silver on 7.625 acres one-half Illile east of Gold
Hill, Colorado in boulder County. The applicant plans to use 20 snares of the
Lefthand Ditch Company to supply water for the operation ana to store some df
that water temporarily in the time and 'raynona hlines to use in the milliny
operation oetween November 1 and play 31 each year.
In order to use the Lefthand Ditch Company water in the rnilling operation, it
must be decreed for industrial or commercial use. A change in the decree
would be required if the water is not decreed for these uses. Gold Hill
Mining Company would be limited to the historic comsumptive use of Lefthand
Ditch Company v,ater not the actual diversions. A consumptive use analysis
would be required to determine the historic conswnptive use. We advise uold
Hill f•lining Company to Mire a water consultant to do this.
Unless the Time and Wynona hlines are cry, we would be opposed to storing water
in them. If the mines have water in them already, it would be very difficult
to keep track of the applicants water after it enters the mine. The applicant
would not be able to pump out all the water pumped in unless they could snow
that their water could not seep out of the mine into the system.
In summary, we cannot recommend approval of this amendment until the above
mentioned issues are addressed.
HDS/JChl:pdt/SolbH
cc: Alan Berryman, Div.
