• INTRODUCTION <br />Empire Energy Corporation, Eagle No. 5 and No. 6 Mines, in order to <br />comply with regulations of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service <br />(USFWS), hereby submits a streamflow depletion analysis of the Upper <br />Colorado River Basin. <br />The Empire Energy Mine site is located seven (7) miles south of Craig, <br />Colorado in Moffat County. The tributaries potentially impacted by the <br />mine operation are the Yampa River and the Williams Fork River. <br />Production from the Eagle Mines is currently 2.5 million tons per year, <br />and is anticipated to increase within the next 5 years to approximately <br />4.0 million tons per year. <br />Details on the surface and ground water hydrology and hydrologic <br />monitoring are presented in Section 2.04.7, Hydrology Information, and <br />• Section 2.05.6, Mitigation of the Impacts of Mining Operations, of the <br />Empire Energy Permit (No. C-81-044 Revised, 1986). <br />Although no endangered fish or wildlife are adversely impacted by the <br />Empire Energy operation, there are species of fish that are considered <br />endangered in the Colorado River. These species are, i) Colorado <br />Squawfish, 2) Humpback Chub, and 3) Bonytail Chub. <br />Details of fish and. wildlife resources within and adjacent to the Empire <br />Energy Permit boundary are presented in Section 2.04.11, Fish and <br />Wildlife Resources Information. <br />• <br />-1- <br />
