Dear Mr. Comer:
The referenced well permit application is being returned for the reasons stated below.
When resubmitting the application, please_retum it to the above address for completion of the
evaluation.
Because construction of the Arequa Gulch Pumpback System does not meet the minimum
well construction standards as outlined in the Water Well Construction Rules (2 CCR 402-2), it will
be necessary for you to submit a written request for a variance to the State Board of Examiners of
Water Welt Construction and Pump Installation Contractors ("Board"). Variances are covered
under Rule 18: The Water Well Construction Rules can be viewed online at the following site:
http://www.water.state.co.us/boe/rulesregs/constructionrules05.pdf . In general, the variance
request should specify the following:
a. the nature and reason for seeking the variance;
b. the proposed construction details (diagram of proposed structure), and
c. special precautions that will be taken to protect the well from contamination.
The variance request can be included with the permit application when returning it to this
office. The Board will respond in writing to the variance request.
