If
[talc ~ <- ~ [tab
then the test has been successful for that given variable and year. When the arithmetic test or the t test has been
passed for cover, production, and density for the last two consecutive years of the responsibility period, and
composition (diversity) is satisfactory, then conditions for final bond reelease have been met.
Production, cover, nd woody plant density dat ollected fro the pastureland reference area will be used to
access the success of reveg s. wentymile Coal Company proposes to utilize the Shannon-Weiner Index
as presented by Shannon et al. (1973), again by Pielou (1975), and recommended by the OSM (Larson 1980) as a
standard to evaluate the success of species diversity.
The Sitaniton-Weiner Index will be calculated from cover data with the following formula:
H' = E Pi log Pi
• where: -
P; Ni/N
Ni = dominance measure for species (species cover)
N = the sum of all species dominance measure (total vegetal cover)
Titus, Pi is equal to relative cover composition
Table 69, Pasture Reference Area Summary for Relative Composition and Diversity, presents composition and
diversity data for the years 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1985, and 1986. Diversity indices calculated as the Sltannon-
Weiner Index range from .088 to 3.50, with an average of .196.
During the last two consecutive growing seasons of the liability period, production, cover, and woody plant density
data will be collected from the revegetated pasture tracts. Diversity values will be obtained from vegetation cover
data. All of the parameters will be compared to the applicable parameters of the reference area. Production,
cover, and woody plant density means will be checked arithmetically to determine if the revegetated [Weans meet
or exceed reference area standards. Sample t-tests will be performed if necessary. Species diversity will be
considered successful when the Shannon-Weiner Index of the revegetated tract is equal to or ~~reater than the
reference area. The historical data base indicates [he reference area diversity value will be approximately .200.
The extended liability period will begin after the last year of augmented seeding, fertilization or irri~_ation with the
exception of restricted interseeding or transplanting, or repair of minor gullies, or weed control measures. The
above exceptions will be implemented as necessary during the first five years of the ten year liability period
witlwut extending the liability period. During the last two years of the liability period, the proposed revegetation
. success criteria will be met as defined in Rule 4.15.8. Revegetation success criteria, as defined under Rule 4.1 ~.8,
will be determined from the reference areas shown on Map 18, Premising Veee[ation.
MIt97-1~4 2.U>-117 Rrtised 12/10/97
