Resource Pit Substitute Water Supply Plan, MLRI) M92069
NEl/4 SWl/4 Section 35, T6N, R66W, 6TH P.M.
Water Division 1, Water District 3
Dear Mr. Hill:

This letter is in response to your application for a substitute water supply plan for
the 83rd J.V. Resource Pit in accordance with Section 37-80-120 C.R.S. (1991). The
required fees of 570 for the substitute water supply plan and 560 for the well permit
application have been submitred.
The anticipated ner depletion for this plan is 14.59 acre-feet per year for the 0.95
acres of lake surface exposed after December 31, 1980. According to information
submitted, no portion of the lake was created prior to December 31, 1980.
You have provided a monthly breakdown of this annual depletion totalling 2.62 acre-
feet of evaporative loss, 8.83 acre-feet of water in the product, and 3.13 acre-feet of water
used for dust suppression. The proposed source of replacement is 15.71 acre-feet from 240
shares (1.11 acre-feet per share) owned in the Boyd and Freeman Ditch, or 14.1 shares.
Also included in your monthly breakdown are the depletions felt by the river during
the first year. This analysis was calculated because the pit is located 3,500 feet from the
river and stream depletions from mining operations would nor be instantaneous. When
this plan expires in October 1993, the anticipated depletions to the river in the pursuing
years will still be your responsibility to augment. The yearly depletions, as calculated using
the Glover technique, are anricipated to be 13.87, 14.52, 14.56 and 14.57 acre-feet for
years two, three, four and five, respectively.
The source of [he water provided by the Boyd and Freeman Ditch is diversions from
the Cache la Poudre River. Dry-up of 10 acres historically imgated (1-57 acre-feet/acre
co~or~Do
of historic consumptive use) with the Boyd and Freeman Ditch will occur this year. The
- acres dried-up need to be verilied by the Division Engineer prior to renewal of next year's
plan.
