Previously, an Intet•nnl Outfall, nztmbered 001, existed as the discharge point from a domestic wastewater trentmentfacility (WWTF) to
Pond 3, which is the third pond in a series from which Outfal1002 discharges. This Interns! Outfall has ceased fo existwith the demolition
ofthe WWTF as part ojreclamation activities, thus Outfa11001 will no longer be authorized. Additionally, Bowie Resources LTD, through
its permit application, has changed the name of the Bowie No. 1 mine site to Bowie No. /East, which is the name reflected in this
permitting action.
The discharges go to EastRoatcap Creek, which is within Segment S, North Fork ofthe Gunnison Rivet•Sub-basin, Gunnison and Lower
Dolores Rivers Basin; also to Stevens Gulch, an unnamed ditch, and Farmers Ditch, all ofwhich are within Segment 6, North Fork ojthe
Gunnison River Sub-basin, Gztnnuon and Lower Dolores Rivers Basin. The applicable classifications and standards are jozmd in the
Classifications and Numeric Standards for the Gunnison and Lower Dolores Rivers Basin (Regulation No. 35), effective February 10,
2002. Segment 5 is not designated, and is therefore a reviewable water, and is class jsed for the following uses: Recreation, Class !b;
Aquatic Life, Class I (Cold); Water Supply; and Agriculture. Segment 6 is designated Use Protected and is classed jot the following
uses: Recreation, Class 1 b; Aquatic Life, Class 2 (Warm); Water Supply; and Agriculture. The Division evaluaiedthisfnciliryonJune20,
2003, and determined that there are no increased itnpacts to the receiving stream(s) that would result from this permitting action, and
therefore an antidegradation review was nor required pursuant to the regttlations.
None of the, five Outfalls have discharged during the previous two yeas. In fact, only Ozttfa11006 has discharged during the previous five
years. Discharge occurred from Outfa11006 during the first calendar quarter of 1998, and no exceedences were reported.
