Briefly describe the process steps used N producing the product. Nclude a process Flow diagram and a discussion of chemicals used at <br />the site and their final disposition. State the fatal disposal of all wastewater streams. Coal is mined within an ocen pit usin¢ a draeline. <br />Mine water is pumped out of the pit to settling ponds. <br />6. What cgntainmept does the permittee have for materials used, processed or stored on site? The only material still on site is fuel. The <br />tank is situated in a recessed area with a berm around it to contain any potential spills. <br />Arc additional convols necessary? Mine water plus surface runoff from disturbed areas and reclaimed areas are diverted to <br />ponds also. A svoils sprin¢ is surfacin¢ below a reclaimed area that was mined prior to P8eN1 ownershiv of the site and SMCRA law. <br />This spoils spring water is dischar¢ed direcdv without treatment. <br />8. Evaluate the treatment facility. Include m this evaluation a discussion of any operation and maintenance problems. Treatment appears _ <br />effective. The permittee has instilled controls N runoff ditch systems to control volumes and prevent erosion into ditches. They have <br />had oast vroblems with beavers damming uo ditches and pond outlets. These dams have been removed and the permittee ti maintiinin¢ <br />watch for new dams. <br />9. How are solid wastes disposed of? NA <br />10. How are hazardous wastes disposed of! All waste oil is burned. Anv hazardous materials generated during maintenance of vehicles and <br />eguivment is recycled and/or disposed of by authorized wntractors. <br />11. The permittee will request an amendment to create one new outfall that <br />will combine the Flow from existing outfalls 002. 003 and 006. If this amendment is granted by the Division, the new <br />oudall will be in the irrigation ditch that transports the combined flow from existing outfalls 002. 003 and 006 at a <br />point below the lowest outfall (N006). <br />
