Tltc areas <br />are broad in the larger and mare gently sloping drain- <br />;>y~•eways, especia:ly •in the South Platte River bottom. <br />:111 are subject to damage. in varying degrees, by ftood- <br />it>; from adjacent slopes and main stream clta[tnels. <br />Included in mapping are small areas of Nunn loam. <br />Satanta loam, 1Tet alluvial land. and Loam_v alluvial <br />land, gravelly substratum. <br />Thu soils :u•c mode[nrch• deep. nn_~ing from °0 to S6 <br />inches in depth, over unconsolidated sand and grarel. <br />They are dark-colored loam to clay loam in [estttra <br />and•generallp are stratified. They are normally noncal- <br />careous, but they are moderately influenced by soluble <br />salts in places. Thin lenses of sand. silt. or hoe gravel <br />may be m any of the lacers. <br />The soils of this land type absorb water at a mrnlcrate <br />to slow rate, and the arailahle water rapacity is hi_h. <br />lrtificial drainage is ;encrally needed Cu _*rmc crops. <br />Natural fertility is high. but under the intensive man- <br />agement used on the=_e soils. artificial snpplcments are <br />needed. <br />Cost of this land tcpc is irri_rated.
