These sails <br />formed in wind-deposited loamy materials. <br />In a repre=_entative profile (fig. "). the surface laver <br />is grayish-brown loam shout f inches thick. It is nan- <br />calcareotts. The upper part of the subsoil is dark-brown <br />heavy clay loam about 3 inches thick. It is noncalcareous. <br />The lower part of the subsoil is very pale bro~cn silty <br />clay loam about 11 inches thick. Ic is ]tghly calcareous <br />and contains much visible lime. The underlying material <br />is highly calcarcot>s, very pale brown silts clay loam and <br />light-,ray silt loam that esteuds [n a depth of Ii0 innc~; <br />or more. <br />?~dena-(:olt;y association, gently sloping IAcCI.-This <br />association consists of intermingled ldrna. Colby, and <br />ti4iley hams. _~dena loam. > to i percent slopes. is the <br />dominant soil and makes up about -FO percent of the <br />association. It normally h:~s slopes facing east and south- <br />east. Colby loam. 3 to :i percent slopes. mal:rs up about <br />.0 perr-ens of the assariation. It is on rid_etops and <br />I:nolis that are more espnsed to tltc wind.
