I • 5.0 NOXIOUS WEEDS
A list of noxious weeds for Delta County was developed by the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology in 1998. Of the 21 noxious weed species listed, only one was encountered within the vegetation
study area (Onopordum acanthium). Scattered individuals of Scotch thistle were documented from the
WRDA, with slightly increased densities noted from the old burn area. In all cases, density of this noxious
weed was observed to be "uncommon" as noted in the table below.
Mixed Shrubland Juni er Woodland
Scientific Name Common Name Reference Reference
WRDA WRDA
Area Area
Onopordum acanthium Scotch Thistle UC - UC -
UB =Ubiquitous -always within view UC =Uncommon -occasionally observed within area
C =Very Common -uniform disVibution within area R =Rare - 2 to 5 observances
C =Common -scattered distribution within area VR = Ve Rare -one observance
It would be recommended that following project construction and during operations, a weed control
program be initiated to ensure this species is reduced in numbers and extent or possibly eradicated from
• the reasonable proximity of the proposed project area.
r
LJ
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, INC.
