• Sediment Ponds. Three of the sedimenc ponds will be totally reclaimed (009, 015 and 016), <br />while two (006 and 005) will remain in place as permanent ponds. Location of all <br />impoundments can be found on Exhibits 12-2 and 12-3. embankment volumes were taken from <br />existing, proposed, and typical designs as shown in Chapter 13. The embankment material <br />and sediment accumulated from [he ponds would be dozed into the surrounding area to <br />reestablish the drainage. A one-time cost far dredging sediment from the ponds has also <br />been included (see appropriate worksheet Attachment 26-1). <br />Road Reclamation. The three types of roads requiring reclamation within the mine site are <br />haul roads [hat are to be totally reclaimed, light-use roads that are [o be totally <br />reclaimed, and roads that are presently haul roads but will be left for [he post mine <br />landowner and must be narrowed. There ace approximately 11.6 miles of haul roads that <br />will be totally reclaimed, 4.B miles of light-use roads that will be totally reclaimed, <br />and a.6 miles of haul roads that will be downsized for postmine landowner use. <br />Light-Use Roads. In 2003 [here will be approximately 4.8 miles of light-use roads that <br />will be reclaimed. As a general rule, these roads are not surfaced. The subgrade will be <br />• ripped, and [he cu[/fills will be graded to cover the surface material. The culverts and <br />embankments will be removed, topsoil respread, and the area revegetated. Please see <br />appropriate worksheets in Attachment 25-1 for calculations. <br />Raul Roads. There are approximately 11.6 miles of haul road that will need [o be <br />reclaimed. The surfacing material will be hauled into the pit and buried as part of the <br />final pit grading. See appropriate worksheets in Attachment 26-1 for reclamation costs. <br />Permanent Roads. There are approximately 4.6 miles of haul roads. These roads will be <br />narrowed to 20 foot wide for postmining use (gee Tab 13 for details). These roads will <br />take the place of jeep trails that existed in the area prior [o mining and add <br />transportation routes that were not available prior to mining.
