The Notice of Blasting Schedule and Warning Signals shall also be published in a <br />newspaper of general circulation in the vicinity of the mine site.] <br />[Name and address] <br />Re: NOTICE OF BLASTING SCHEDULE AND WARNING SIGNALS: EFFECTIVE <br />[List Effective Date] For the Lorencito Canyon Mine located 20 miles west of Trinidad, <br />Colorado. Mine Permit No. C-96-084. <br />Ladies and Gentlemen: <br />Lorencito Coal Company, LLC, owns and operates the Lorencito Canyon Mine located 20 miles <br />west of Trinidad, Colorado. Pursuant to state regulation, Lorencito Coal Company, LLC, is <br />issuing this Notice of Blastine Schedule effective October 1, 2002. This Notice of Blasting <br />Schedule and Warning Signals shall remain in effect until October 1, 2003 or until Lorencito <br />• Coal Company, LLC, issues a replacement Blasting Schedule. Please notify your employees and <br />contractors working in the area of this information. <br />Blasting Location: From time to time, Lorencito Coal Company, LLC, uses explosives to <br />remove overburden from coal seams located within the Lorencito Canyon Mine in the following <br />legal locations: <br />Township 34 South, Range 66 West, 6 P.M. <br />Sections: 5, 6, 7, and 8. <br />Time of Blast: Unless an unavoidable hazazdous condition exists, blasting will only occur <br />between sunrise and sunset, Monday through Saturday in the Sections listed above. The <br />following are examples of unavoidable hazardous conditions: lightning, heavy rain or other <br />adverse atmospheric condition. <br />Blast Warning: Lorencito Coal Company, LLC, will use the following audible warning before <br />detonating each explosive charge: <br />After the blast site has been cleared and access to the mine has been closed, the certified <br />blaster will sound an air hom audible within one-half mile of the blast location. The blast <br />warning signal will consist of three reports, each lasting five seconds in duration. The <br />certified blaster will detonate the explosives between one and two minutes after the blast <br />warning signal has been given.
