James Dillie
Division ofMinerals and Geology
With this adjustment in location of the pit, we have additionally altered the other dimensions of
the pit slightly to maintain the specified 9.12 acreage of the pit. Therefore, the dimensions of the
Affected Area in Exhibit C of our original proposal have been altered to 306 feet east-west by
1300 feet north-south with a pit measuring 256' by 1225'. Buffers of 50' on the north and 25' on
the east, west and south perimeters remain as originally proposed.
3) The existing road is currently an unimproved dirt road into the property. As needed, it is
intended that this road will be leveled with a road grader and crowned to promote proper drainage
and to prevent standing water. Gravel from this pit will be used as road base if and when usage
dictates a need for additional material.
4) If groundwater is encountered, the area will be backfilled and left undisturbed.
5) The enclosed maps reflect alteration from the proposed 2: I sideslopes to 3:1 slopes in order to
comply with performance standards. The measurements of the bottom of the pit have been
altered accordingly.
6) In Exhibit D; we specified use of a Dry Land Pasture Mix seed at the rate of 25 Ib/acre. Upon
receiving the written recommendations from the Mountain Meadow Research Center, it is our
intent to alter this specification according to that agency's recommendations (attached).
As stated in Item 5, slopes are now proposed at 3:1. Topsoil stockpiles will be placed at the top
of slopes and will be replaced at an average depth of 6" as originally proposed. Broadcast
seeding is proposed for the fall at a revised rate of 15 pounds of live seed per acre, utilizing the
following mix:
Crested Wheatgrass 40% 6 lb/ac
Western Wheatgrass 27% 4 Ib/ac
Smooth Brome 20% 3 lblac
Mountain Brome 13% 2 Ib/ac
TOTAL 100% 15 LB/AC
Topsoil will be raked or harrowed to prepare soil for seeding, and no fertilizer will be used. Old
hay, which is available on the owner's property, will be used as mulch.
